Lecturing in HE and MA (Undergraduate and Post Graduate)
One of the greatest joys is to work with dedicated students and supporting them in carving their path, developing sustainable career strategy.
With extensive experience working in FE, I have now refocused on lecturing in HE and MA on subjects including Self Promotion 101, Building and keeping music industry connections, Bands to brands- a path to sponsorship, How to gain a work as a session player, Media Training, Songwriting.
Training For Service Providers
Songwriting is often found to be a great tool to engage with young people. I offer practical training program for music practitioners and teachers that are looking to use songwriting as one of the methods of further musical development of their students. This has been very well received and we have gained feedback that the methods and techniques shared have been easy to implement in everyday schedule and that it is an inspirational training course.
1-1 Mentoring
I really enjoy working with young talented musicians and artists so every now and again I might take on a new student. Most of my students come to me for help with their career strategy development, soft skill and self-awareness management, songwriting, singing or guitar playing, as well as business and music theory related queries.
Community Music
I have extensive experience in designing projects, acquiring funding, managing delivery teams as well as being senior music leader in variety of settings all over the West Midlands and beyond.
Music can be a very personal thing and yet it can also be very social in it’s manifestation – music making is an excellent medium for social and personal development that can be transferable and used across numerous sectors. Learning more about ourselves, from effective communication to team playing, assertiveness and decision making – music can take people on life changing journey. Themes of belonging, self worth, problems around being bullied, found and lost love, family often come up and through years of experience and feedback we have learn that it is a very valuable tool to let go of some emotions, to express oneself and find new coping mechanisms.
